What cookies are and what they are used for

PHPSESSID [session cookie]: serves to create a session ID for the user so that the system itself can identify the user as unique and individual, different from anyone else visiting the site.
X-Mapping-alncmkhk [session cookie]: load balances high traffic web services. Used to route data and page requests to the correct server when a site is hosted on multiple servers.
_ga [third-party cookie]: distinguishes users in Google Analytics
_gat [third-party cookie]: speeds up page load time. Required for Google Analytics
